Individual and Couple Counselling and Psychotherapy

The ideas which inform my practice derive from psychoanalysis and attachment theory. These are validated by contemporary research, and particularly by recent findings in the field of neuroscience.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Early experiences impact on our individual development and the way we attach and relate to others, whatever culture we grow up in. We unconsciously repeat patterns which sometimes prevent us from leading the life we want to lead. Identifying and understanding these patterns through dialogue and through what is experienced in the therapeutic relationship itself can bring relief from the shadows of our past, and instigate positive change. This is why the relationship we establish and develop together is so important.

WHAT HAPPENS?

We meet weekly, on the same day, at the same time, for 50 minutes. Though the frame and the boundaries of the sessions are respected at all times, the way I work adapts to the needs of each individual or couple. For some, a focus on past events is crucial. For others, the focus will remain primarily on the here and now. Work is on an open-ended basis or, in some cases, for an agreed time period.

Therapy is a challenging, stimulating, sometimes painful, ultimately rewarding exploration of the truth, which we embark on together. Rather than spoon feed you short term solutions, it will help you find your own long-term answers, and reconnect with yourself and with others.
